DonkDJ
DonkDJ - RIP

All good things have to come to an end. After almost 2 years of undermining the northern dance music scene, DonkDJ has finally spun its last remix.

DonkDJ made it possible for the first time to automatically generate a bangin’ dance remix from any piece of music. Originally created as part of the last year of my degree, DonkDJ soon took on a life of its own, and as Facebook and Twitter got hold of the idea 100,000 donk remixes were generated by tens of thousands of people across the globe in a matter of days.

Media coverage followed from the likes of NME magazine, as well as European and American radio, TV and press. I have been approached by people in the street who have thrown entire parties playing nothing but automatically generated donk remixes. I’ve personally had to refuse, sadly, the offer of DJ sets in towns as varied as Skegness and Doncaster. DonkDJ became a cult classic and, its own little way, changed the world.

Recently however I’m sad to say that I’ve started to receive threatening phone calls from area codes around the Bolton area. I have also started to notice an increase in youths in baseball caps hanging around outside my house — often listening to hard house. I don’t want to speculate, but it’s possible that Blackout Crew have become tired of having the piss taken from 100,000 different angles. With my own safety in mind, I have regrettably decided to retire DonkDJ permanently.

RIP DonkDJ.
